Speech and Language Therapy

Speech and Language Therapy

Speech therapy is a specialized therapy that evaluates diagnoses and treats speech, language, cognitive communication and swallowing disorders. Speech and Language Pathologists address communication disorders in the areas of receptive and expressive language, speech fluency, speech production, oral motor ability, voice production and pragmatics. At The SEED Center, our Speech Language Pathologists are licensed by the state of New York and Connecticut and have the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Our Speech Therapy Program is available exclusively to our clients.

Children receiving Speech Therapy services at The SEED Center have the added benefit of frequent, accessible communication between behavior therapists, speech language pathologists and parents about the child's abilities and progress. This enhances carryover of new skills acquired in speech sessions at our center as well as at home. Our Speech therapists have received training in Applied Behavior Analysis, allowing for consistency between team members. With this team approach, the child is practicing and learning new skills in a variety of settings.

Treatment sessions are provided on an individual or small group basis, with one clinician treating one client in a specially designed environment with interventions designed to remediate deficit areas identified during the evaluation.

There are a number of methodologies that our Speech and Language Pathologists are trained in:

Feeding Therapy
Myofunctional Therapy
